Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for engineering projects including labor materials and overheads.
- Establish project budgets and track expenditure to ensure the project stays within financial limits.
- Assist with the procurement process preparing tender documents evaluating bids and recommending contractors.
- Review and manage engineering contracts ensuring all terms and conditions are adhered to.
- Monitor project costs and report on financial performance identifying any potential cost overruns.
- Measure and value engineering works including site inspections and progress assessments.
- Provide cost advice on engineering materials techniques and methods to optimize project budgets.
- Prepare cost forecasts and financial reports to communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Manage financial risks related to engineering projects and suggest mitigation strategies.
- Certify payments to contractors based on work completed ensuring accuracy.
- Negotiate contract terms and resolve any financial or contractual disputes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards regulations and safety requirements.
- Prepare final accounts including reconciliations of variations and changes to the original scope.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and financial management.
- Proficiency in cost estimation budgeting and cost control techniques.
- Experience with tendering procurement and contract management.
- Familiarity with engineering project practices materials and methods.
- Knowledge of construction laws regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills for working with clients contractors and stakeholders.
- Ability to use relevant software (e.g. MS Excel CostX or similar).
- Strong problemsolving and risk management abilities.
- Understanding of project management principles and the ability to work within deadlines.
- Membership with a professional body (e.g. RICS or equivalent) may be required or preferred.
