The Franklin Public Schools a Prek12 district is seeking a skilled and creative special education teacher to work as the lead teacher in the STRIVE Program at Franklin High School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student to teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. The program addresses the unique needs of each student ensuring that instruction is developmentally appropriate. Instruction is focused on activities of daily living functional academics community experiences independence vocational skills recreation and leisure skills social skills and communication. Students are provided with ongoing opportunities for meaningful inclusion with the support of program staff. Within this developmental model the instructional strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout the school day. Key Duties and Responsibilities:Plan for and provide meaningful instruction in all areas addressed within the programProvide positive behavior supports interventions and incentives for students Administer diagnostic testing and assessments as needed for caseload studentsCommunicate and collaborate with colleagues parents and administration regarding student needs and progressParticipate in the Team process and write IEPs and progress reports for caseload studentsCollect data to monitor progress toward goalsPlan for creative inclusionary experiences within the high school and broader community Qualifications:Able to take initiative and work independently Bachelors degree in special education; Masters degree preferred Massachusetts licensure in Moderate or Severe DisabilitiesExperience in public school settingExperience working with and teaching adolescents with developmental disabilitiesKnowledge and training in ABA
