Research Officer

Job No.:568747

Work type:Fixed Term

As part of the School of Agriculture Biomedicine and Environment you will contribute to several major research projects aiming to improve conservation outcomes in agricultural landscapes. Your work will focus on the intersection of state and transition models biodiversity (especially native birds) and ecosystem services across diverse regions including the Mallee Victorian Volcanic Plains Tasmanian Midlands and the Limestone Coast (South Australia).

  • Bundoora Campus

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyse state and transition models and apply them to realworld case studies
  • Lead spatial and ecological data analysis (GIS remote sensing field data)
  • Collect and interpret field data with a strong emphasis on native bird species
  • Produce highquality reports and publish in peerreviewed journals
  • Develop frameworks for using bird community condition metrics in conservation and land management

You Will Bring

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as Ecology Environmental Science or Conservation Biology
  • Advanced skills in GIS spatial modelling and ecological data analysis
  • Experience in ornithology and biodiversity fieldwork
  • Familiarity with state and transition models
  • Strong research writing and publication record
  • A teamfocused proactive attitude with a commitment to inclusion and innovation
