CAPE Inc. (Community Association for Preschool Education) has a wonderful and immediate opportunity for two 2 Mental Health Clinicians on W2 (Regular Full Time) or on 1099 (independent contractor/consultant) in our dynamic Head Start and Early Head Start programs.


Eligible for Hiring Bonus!

Position is Exempt Salaried Full Time 40 hours/week) 12 months

Pay Rate: Minimum $6067/month Maximum $6413/monthor $35$37/hour

CAPE is located in Livermore and consults with young children 05 and their families in the office home and CAPE centers in Livermore Dublin Pleasanton San Leandro and Hayward areas. The Mental Health Consultants provide Mental Health consultation to CAPE Early Head Start and Head Start preschool and partner sites.


Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:

1 Licensed MFT or LCSW with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Licensed Psychologist with Board of Psychology

1 Masters degree and/or certified mental health professional in early childhood special education early childhood education or child development and/or a closely related field such as social work early intervention mental health or counseling.

Maintain professional liability insurance

Experience and training in principles and practice of Early Childhood Mental Health and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Must be bilingual in Spanish/English

Valid California Drivers License

TB clearance and health screening

Fingerprint and child abuse index clearance


Essential Functions:

Implement strategies to identify and support children with mental health and social and emotional concerns

Assist teachers other staff and family childcare providers to improve classroom management and teacher practices through strategies that include using classroom observations and consultations to address teacher and individual child needs and creating physical and cultural environments that promote positive mental health and social and emotional functioning.

Assist staff to address prevalent child mental health concerns including internalizing problems such as appearing withdrawn and externalizing problems such as challenging behaviors

Help parents and staff to understand mental health and access to mental health interventions if needed

Attend various meetings and collaborate with CAPE staff to support agency implementation of teaching practices and learning environment strategies that promote child socialemotional development.

Provide outreach presentations and trainings to outside community agencies as needed.

Assist in developing documentation forms procedures and ensuring timely service and documentation completion to meet various funding requirements.

Attend community and county sponsored trainings and collaborative meetings related to the program


Mental Health Services:

Collaborate with CAPE preschools childcare centers and partners providing consultation and training as needed.

Complete all required documentation in a timely manner and by stated deadlines.

Provide appropriate referrals to community resources.

Report all suspected child abuse according to laws and regulations.

Attend regularly scheduled training supervision and community meetings as assigned.

Be able to work in a nontraditional setting.

Be able to travel to varying locations.


Qualifications:

Masters Degree or higher in psychology social work or related field

Possess current and active clinical Licensure as a MFT LCSW with BBS or Psychologist with BOP registration

Endorsement as an infant/family early childhood mental health specialist or reflective practice facilitator by CA Center preferred

3 years of experience in the field of social services preferred

3 years of experience in the field of infant and early childhood mental health

(Principles of early childhood mental health assessment treatment and diagnosis)

Experience working with young children 05 and their families

Ability to work with families and staff of varied disciplines and educational levels; must demonstrate acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all forms including race ethnicity sexual orientation and religious backgrounds

Ability to hold engage and facilitate reflective practice

Initiativetaking; ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others

Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to exercise good clinical legal and ethical judgment and establish clear professional boundaries

Ability to prioritize tasks be meticulous make sound decisions and multitask

Flexibility: willing to see clients in community settings in clients home and occasionally to work evenings

Computer competence: knowledge and comfort in various applications including Child Plus Microsoft Windows Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint
