Job Description

The School of Education at Loyola Marymount University is accepting applications in the Department of Specialized Programs in Professional Psychology for a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach and serve fulltime in the School Psychology Program. This position is expected to begin August 15 2025.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree with a specialization in School Psychology; OR Masters or Specialist degree in School Psychology and a doctorate in a closely related field (e.g. Counseling Special Education)
  • At least 3 years of experience as a practicing school psychologist
  • Working knowledge of NASP domains of practice
  • Demonstrated experience with diversity equity and inclusion related to education cultural competence and/or cultural humility
  • Experience teaching supervising and/or supporting graduatelevel students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual and experience with bilingual assessment
  • Knowledge of CTC standards for school psychology
  • CA PPS credential in School Psychology
  • Experience teaching graduatelevel courses
  • Experience with online teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership advocacy and activism

Job Duties:

The person in this position will teach and advise school psychology graduate candidates. Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching courses in oncampus (inperson) and/or fully online modalities
  • Providing ongoing continuous monitoring and advisement and developing remediation plans as necessary to support candidate progress and success
  • Contributing to the programs curriculum mapping
  • Collaborating with program administration faculty and staff in ongoing program development evaluation and accreditation activities
  • Assisting with recruitment and admissions of diverse candidates
  • Representing the School Psychology Program at meetings conferences and with professional associations

LMU School Psychology Program is a 3year 63unit NASPApproved cohort program leading to an MA in Educational Psychology an Ed.S. in School Psychology and a CA PPS Credential in School Psychology. Graduate students enroll in either the oncampus or the fully online program for their training. The program highlights 5 learning strands: Integration of research theory and practice; Selfcare stress management and burnout prevention; Leadership development; Positive mental health motivation and resilience; and social justice in action.
