Position Summary:
The Department of Languages Literature and Communication Media seeks a committed enthusiastic and highly motivated candidate to serve as the Director of the Writing Studio. Responsibilities include managing the daytoday activities of the Writing Studio training and mentoring tutors building relationships across campus creating opportunities for student engagement and success and working with a diverse and underserved population of students. The successful candidate will have training in writing center pedagogy and/or a related area and experience working with college level writers. The successful candidate may also teach one section of Adams States firstyear writing courses ENG 101 Communication Arts I (GTC01 or ENG 102 Communication Arts II (GTC02 each semester.STARTING DATE
The position is available to start June 1 2025.
Mission of the Department
The Department of Languages Literature and Media Communications mission is to utilize high impact and best practices that promote student development of writing communication critical thinking and critical analysis skills that are interdisciplinary and essential for lifelong learning. Our programs foster student success through diversity and inclusivity and prepare students for careers that include writing media education and the arts.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Masters degree in Rhetoric and Composition or English. Related field if candidate has 18 credit hours in English or Rhetoric and Composition.
2. Experience tutoring student writing in a college or university writing center and/or experience teaching first year writing at the university level.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of sensitivity to and ability to work effectively with the educational needs of individuals and groups with a diverse range of identities cultures backgrounds and abilities
4. Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial socioeconomic academic and cultural diversity of Adams State Universitys student population including students with different abilities (e.g. physical and or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equityminded inclusive practices within the classroom
5. Demonstrated commitment to honesty efficacy and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition English. Related field if candidate has 18 credit hours in English or Rhetoric and Composition.
2. Experience teaching and/or working with multilingual students.
3. Ability or experience working with historically underserved and/or underrepresented populations and firstgeneration college students.
4. Ability or experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underrepresented students including students of color.
5. Commitment to professional development.
6. Demonstrated selfawareness of ones own cultural beliefs perspectives and privileges as a part of ones orientation towards teaching and mentoring.
7. Demonstrated decisionmaking that is informed by research data and theory and that leverages students unique cultures experiences and background as strengths.
8. Experience in writing program administration
9. Experience in TA education and/or training writing center tutors.
10. Supervisory experience especially of student workers.
Salary and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $46476 $52872 commensurate with experience and education.
