Ideal Candidate: Looking for a candidate that has bottomup estimating experience in Heavy Civil or Commercial environment. The projects we bid are min of $100 million and go up from there. They are not looking for someone that gathers quotes from other contractors and puts them together for a bid but they want someone with experience building the bid from the very start and building up to finish. The software that we use is Bid2Win and we would like experience with that. Looking for someone that has done bidding for Highway bridges highway paving airports and LARGE multilevel commercial buildings with post tension cabling water tanks and building water treatment facilities.
DESCRIPTION:
- This position is responsible for the estimating of heavy civil infrastructure projects with various scopes of work including but not limited to removals grading concrete structures and related scopes of work. This position will work closely with other estimators project managers and the Chief Estimator. Attention to detail along with Excellent written and verbal communication are required.
Responsibilities
- Review project specifications plans and Geotech Report attend prebid meetings determine site conditions through a site visit. Determine selfperformed scope of work and subcontracted scope of work.
- Solicit subcontractors and material supplies including any possible requirements for DBE or SBEs subcontractors. Develop bid packages for the various subcontractors and materials suppliers scopes of work and send out RFQs.
- Proficiently prepare estimates by performing takeoffs setting up the estimate file and building activities & logic in the Heavy Bid (HCSS) estimating software.
- Enter both subcontractor and material supplier quotes in HCSS and make awards.
- Conduct bid Review with Chief Estimator and Management Team prior to bid day.
- Ability to make timely decisions closeout bids and submit owner/agency bid documents with the direction of the Chief Estimator.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree (B. A. from fouryear college technical school or university in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
- A minimum of 8 years of heavy civil / roadway estimating experience including removals grading concrete structures aggregate placement airport runways and related scopes of work or equivalent.
- A minimum of 8 years of Estimating including software like Bid2Win AGTEK OST P6 Excel or equivalent.
- A good attitude and the ability to work with and get along with others.
