Job Description

Position Summary

San Diego State University is looking for a skilled Development Coordinator to provide administrative support project management and event coordination for our fundraising teams. If youre detailoriented and eager to make an impact in higher education wed love for you to join our team!

Position Information

  • This is a fulltime 1.0 timebase) benefits eligible permanent/probationary position.
  • This position is designated nonexempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs. (Flexibility to travel attend events and work outside regular hours including weekends both on and off campus.
  • This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Department Summary

University Relations and Development (URAD) advances SDSUs mission through strategic priorities like becoming a premier public research university fostering resilience promoting equity and inclusion and centering students.

URAD builds lasting relationships with alumni parents donors students and the community to generate private support for diverse programs. It offers services in stewardship events gift administration and communications.

InURAD raised $131.9M awarded 2251 scholarships and welcomed 5006 firsttime donors. The latest fundraising success can be credited to the universitys goal of building a worldclass university campus research center and multiuse stadium in Mission Valley; all serving higher education the public good and the communitys goals and aspirations.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program technical/vocational program or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with Ellucian (or similar financial and biographical database).
  • Experience in performing basic prospect research and data analysis.
  • Experience in coordinating meetings and special events.
  • Experience with marketing and communications.
  • Experience in generating emails letters cards invoices etc. using mail merge functions.

Licenses/Certifications Required

Valid CA drivers license within 10 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4621 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
