Job Description

Job Summary

This is a fulltime tenure track faculty position on the Omak campus.

Essential Functions

Teaching and Supervision

  • Nursing Theory: Teaching nursing theory courses likely covering various aspects of nursing practice and patient care.
  • Skills Practice Lab: Supervising students in the skills practice lab ensuring they develop the necessary clinical skills.
  • Clinical Experiences: Supervising students in clinical experiences in various healthcare settings including hospitals longterm care facilities and community agencies.

Program Development and Evaluation

  • Curriculum Development: Contributing to the development and implementation of the nursing program curriculum.
  • Policy Development: Participating in the development and implementation of nursing program education policies.
  • Evaluation: Assessing student learning outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing program.

Administrative Duties

  • Office Hours: Holding scheduled office hours to advise students and address their questions.
  • Committee Participation: Participating in department division college and task group meetings.
  • Student Advising: Advising students on degree and career paths.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A masters degree in nursing from an accredited program or a bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and a masters degree in a health or education related field from an accredited college or university (per WAC.
  • A current unencumbered RN license in Washington state.
  • Evidence of current clinical skills in medicalsurgical nursing.
  • Documented successful teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using computer applications for instruction and clinical documentation.
  • Postsecondary vocational or professional nursing certificates.
  • Experience with online and hybrid teaching modalities.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Successful postsecondary teaching experience preferably in a community college setting.
  • Ability to function effectively in various healthcare settings.
  • Experience creating digital content in accessible formats.
  • Ability to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty staff clinical partners and student body.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize many different tasks.

Additional Information

Terms of Employment:

This is a fulltime tenuretrack faculty position. The salary for the position is determined by placement on the Wenatchee Valley College fulltime faculty schedule $74259 to $82480 for a 9month 175day contract. Class assignments may include day evening and distance courses. This position is scheduled to start when a qualified candidate is identified. Additional nurse educator stipends are currently available.

Conditions of Employment:

Bargaining Unit:

This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the Association for Higher Education. Faculty workload compensation and job expectations are defined by a contract negotiated between the faculty union and the WVC Board of Trustees.
