Job Description
The Associate Technical Directors ATD primary responsibilities are to assist the Technical Director in the planning and construction of all PlayMakers Repertory Company PRC productions and assist in ensuring that the work performed in the Scene Shop is executed professionally and efficiently according to the prescribed standards. The ATD will also have responsibilities relating to design analysis budget management and reporting personnel management scheduling supervision of scenery construction collaborating with other production and technical departments equipping and maintaining all shop areas and purchasing materials. The ATD will also act as Technical Director for one to two shows per season and instruct graduate and undergraduate students in the Scene Shop.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theater or a relevant postbaccalaureate degree.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Training in Technical Production and 35 years of comparable technical production experience. Previous experience supervising employees managing budgets and working in theatrical construction theatrical rigging and motion control required. Must have a working knowledge of a variety of construction skills including but not limited to woodworking and metalworking; understanding of structural analysis as it pertains to theatre; maintenance of shop equipment; and proficiency in the operation of a wide variety of shop equipment. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel AutoCAD and Photo Shop also required.
