In this dynamic role youll play a vital part in creating opportunities for these students to thrive academically and personally. Youll blend student engagement program coordination data management and marketing to ensure TRIO participants receive the guidance and resources they need to reach their educational goals.

From coordinating workshops and campus visits to mentoring student employees and managing social media outreach you will be at the heart of TRIOs mission to foster student success. Your work will directly impact students by helping them navigate college processes stay engaged in their education and transition smoothly to fouryear institutions. Additionally you will maintain accurate records track student progress and support datadriven decisionmaking to strengthen program effectiveness.

This position reports to the TRIO Student Support Services Director and is overtime eligible.

Essential Job Duties

Primary essential duties and responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:

Program Coordination
The TRIO SSS Program Specialist 2 plays a vital role in ensuring students have access to key opportunities by developing and maintaining a quarterly calendar of workshops campus visits and important college deadlines in collaboration with the TRIO team. This role involves coordinating planning and executing program events and activities managing logistics for meetings conferences and travel and ensuring timely reimbursements and reconciliations. Additionally the Program Specialist 2 facilitates servicelearning and workbased learning experiences creating handson opportunities for students to explore careers gain realworld skills and build their professional networks.

Student Engagement & Support
As a primary point of contact for TRIO participants staff and external community partners the Program Specialist 2 ensures students feel welcomed supported and valued throughout their academic journey. This role guides students through the application and intake process verifies eligibility and facilitates a smooth transition into the program including connecting them to TRIOpaid platforms. To promote continued engagement the Program Specialist 2 proactively reaches out to inactive participants encouraging their return and connects with recent graduates to confirm 4year transfer. Maintaining confidentiality is a key responsibility as the Program Specialist 2 handles sensitive student information in compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.

In addition to direct student support the Program Specialist 2 supervises and mentors 24 student employees ensuring they effectively contribute to program operations while gaining valuable professional experience. This includes training student workers in essential skills such as database management office procedures and social media content creation equipping them with the tools needed for future career success. By fostering a supportive and professional environment the Program Specialist 2 enhances both student engagement and program effectiveness.

Program Operations & Data Management
Effective program operations rely on accurate data management and the Program Specialist 2 ensures that physical and digital student records are organized and maintained to meet grant and institutional compliance standards. This role also supports data collection and analysis for the Annual Performance Report (APR) and grant applications helping to demonstrate the programs measurable impact. The Program Specialist 2 uses Excel along with other software and web applications to track student success metrics supporting the Director in making datadriven decisions that enhance program services and student outcomes.

Beyond data management the Program Specialist 2 plays a key role in budget monitoring and administrative efficiency ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to support grant rules/regulations internal policies and student success. Responsibilities include processing purchase orders tracking expenditures salaries and yearend/drawdowns and maintaining office inventory to keep the TRIO office wellequipped and functional. Additionally the Program Specialist 2 fosters a welcoming and resourceful environment by maintaining an inclusive and diversified studentfriendly office space updating bulletin boards and ensuring students have access to essential program information.

Marketing & Social Media
To increase student engagement and promote program services the Program Specialist 2 manages TRIO SSS social media platforms and website curating relevant and engaging content that highlights student achievements and program opportunities. Participate in promoting new event and activities ideas. They also develop marketing materials including flyers digital advertisements and datadriven reports including statistics that showcase program impact and encourage participation. Keeping students informed is a priority and the Program Specialist 2 ensures this by maintaining and updating the TRIO SSS Canvas course providing easy access to essential program information and college resources. The TRIO Program Support Specialist 2 helps students navigate their academic journey by providing essential support and guidance with the CANVAS course and additional resources.

Other Work Activities

  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes but is not limited to: security and safety understanding of SDS equipment infection control fire disaster safe lifting and body mechanics.
  • Ensures compliance with college policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner and ensures the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive to the colleges values.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Duties of the Position Require Experience and Knowledge in
  • Providing highquality customer service in an educational or student services setting.
  • Navigating college policies academic advising processes and student support services.
  • Proficiency in social media management event planning and marketing strategies.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including budget monitoring and compliance.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook Teams) Zoom and data management systems.
  • Managing multiple responsibilities prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fastpaced environment.

Required Work Schedule and Work Environment
Work is primarily officebased and is sedentary in nature with frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions. Frequent use of computers and exposure to computer screens in performing work assignments. Frequent need for oral and written communications and ability to successfully monitor inperson and online testing for compliance with outside agencies regulations. Occasional need to kneel stoop crouch crawl reach and lift up to 25 lbs. in an office environment. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with faculty staff professionals students and the public.

Basic work schedule is 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Thursday. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support program events.Hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of college or the department.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At the time of application all candidates must possess the following:

  • Bachelors Degree OR Associates Degree with at least two 2 years relevant work experience. Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Working knowledge of office software and technology including the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Teams) and Zoom.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting data or information to make informed decisions OR demonstrated ability to make inferences from information or data.
  • Direct experience providing quality customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management and marketing.
  • Familiarity with student information systems such as PeopleSoft or other student management systems.
  • Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and experience working with student records.
  • Experience working with TRIO programs or similar federally funded initiatives.
  • Commitment to supporting the success of firstgeneration lowincome and students with disabilities.
  • Bicultural experience.
