College/Department Overview:
The College of Business has 65 fulltime faculty and 40 parttime faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting Economics Finance Information Systems & Operations Management Management and Marketing. The College currently offers 13 undergraduate majors serving more than 2200 students and 3 graduate programs serving more than 150 students combined. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Teaches advises and mentors students evaluates student performance and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department college and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching service and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.
The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor in Finance. Position will begin in August2025.
Candidates will be expected to teach courses within the field and/or subfields of Finance using a transformative approach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and participate in department and schoolrelated service activities. Candidates are expected to have a balanced commitment towards teaching research and service.
The Finance Department currently houses 12 fulltime faculty members 9 Finance & 3 Bus. Law) and offers undergraduate majors in Finance Insurance & Risk Management and Business Law. We also support minors in Banking Financial Planning Real Estate and Insurance & Risk Management. The Department also offers a Master of Science in Finance. The department sponsors a Student Investment Fund and finance clubs. Additionally the department contributes to the curriculum linked to the UCO MBA and MSBA programs.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Teaching research departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment the position rank will change to TTInstructor.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Applicants with a PhD or ABD in Finance from an AACSB school will have priority consideration. Scholarly Academics (SA) per AACSB standards are preferred. Previous teaching and/or work experience in finance insurance or real estate is preferred. Ideal candidates will have a successful record of prior professional business experience and leadership responsibilities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellence in teaching.Previous teaching experience in higher education environment at level of teaching assistant or higher is required. Candidate must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence.
