Job Title:Entry Laboratory Sciences Professional

Position: #Requisition: #35993

Job Summary:

The Wilson Laboratory within the Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking to fill the position of a Research Services Entry Laboratory Sciences Professional to provide direct professional support of laboratorybased research activities.

The mission of the Wilson Lab is to undertake basic and clinical translational research to understand microbehost interactions and the mechanisms by which gut microbes and immune cells contribute to gut homeostasis and pathogenesis and contribute to chronic inflammatory processes in HIV and aging. The successful candidate will become a member of a productive research team and will be responsible for their own primary research projects under the direction of Dr. Wilson and senior team members as well as assisting other laboratory personnel with their projects as needed. This position is ideal for people who are looking for a few years of experience in preparation for graduate school. Dr. Wilson highly values mentoring and is dedicated to helping scientists achieve their independent goals.

The successful candidate will utilize a variety of laboratory techniques including processing of human gut tissue stool and blood samples cell culture experiments flow cytometry quantitation of protein markers by ELISAs and multiplex immunoassays immunohistochemistry viral and bacterial propagation. The position requires exceptional organizational skills recordkeeping abilities and attention to detail. The successful candidate should be able to clearly and effectively communicate with the research team is expected to fully participate in laboratory meetings and will be invited to participate at the paper writing level and be a coauthor on publications if interested.

This position requires work in Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 and BSL3 facilities and will require development of proficiency in a biocontainment laboratory. Some flexibility in schedule should be expected depending on experiments and processing of tissue samples. If this occurs outside work hours compensation time is provided.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as $45000 $57240.

The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
