Your Mission
Ratepayis a dynamic and innovative fintech company dedicated to revolutionizing payment solutions in the online retail sector. As aSenior Software Engineer (PHP/JavaatRatepay you will play a crucial role in our mission to streamline and enhance our payment processing systems.
You will be part of theBuyer Experience (BUX) product development team whichis responsible fordirect communication with buyers via email post and web portals. This team also provides critical tools for our customer service center and merchant partners. BUX is the only product area atRatepaythat interacts directly with buyers defining our external image with millions of monthly contacts. As such we are thecompetence center for customer service customerfacing solutions and frontend technology.
We are looking for an experienced software engineer with strongexpertiseinPHP and Java deep knowledge ofRESTful APIs microservices and eventdriven architecture and a passion for delivering highquality scalable solutions. In this role you will take full ownership of the software development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developoperate and continuously improve our products ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- Take aleading role in the refactoring of our Customer Service (CS) platform transitioning fromPHP to Javabased architecture.
- Bring yourexpertiseinPHP and Javato drive technical innovation and mentor fellow engineers.
- Championbest practicesin software development ensuring clean maintainable and efficient code.
- Foster aDevOps mindsetand take ownership of solutions in anAWS environment(you build it you run it).
- Design and implementnew features and servicesoptimizingsystem performance and user experience.
- Be a key knowledge carrier for PHP while actively supporting our shift to Java.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to increase thetechnical excellenceof our engineering culture.
Thats What You Bring Along
- 7 years of experience in software engineering with strongproficiencyin backend development.
- Professional experience in Java development particularly withSpring/Spring Boot.
- Professional experience in PHP development particularly withLaravel.
- Handson experience withGit Docker and PostgreSQL.
- Strong conceptual knowledge ofRESTful APIs microservices and eventdriven architecture.
- Experience withfull software lifecycle developmentand a DevOps mindset.
- Excellentproblemsolving skillsand a proactive approach to technical challenges.
- Strongcommunicationand collaboration skills aligned withRatepaysvalues of ownership and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
- First experience inKotlinwould be a plus.
- First experience with Kafkawould be great.
- Experience onJSframeworks likeVue.jswouldbe beneficial.
