Job Description Summary
Oversees the ordering receipt and distribution of supplies and goods for Schmid college. Manages and maintains both chemical and asset inventory for the college. Provides support for instructional and research labs by executing services available to all labs as necessary. Works with staff faculty and administrators to assist in the smooth physical operations of the college.
Responsibilities
Ordering Receiving and Distribution Order laboratory supplies materials chemicals and equipment for all research laboratories in the college. Assist in ordering supplies for instructional laboratories as needed. Order receive distribute and store compressed gas cylinders and cryogen tanks for both instructional and research laboratories. Receive all supplies and equipment for the college and coordinate the distribution of these materials. Set up and maintain an inventory of fixed assets for the college. Affix asset ID tags to fixed assets as required by the university. Manage and oversee chemical inventory database and update it appropriately when chemicals Laboratory Services and Safety Coordinate and perform hazardous waste pick up for instructional and research labs. Oversee hazardous waste tracking system. Oversee biohazardous waste pickups by outside vendor. Ensure that all labs are equipped with proper hazardous waste and waste receptacles as needed. Ensure that all laboratories are equipped with appropriate PPE and acquire new PPE as necessary. Oversee lab coat cleaning service by outside vendor. Work with Environmental Health and Safety and other university departments to ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies and standards. Work with faculty and staff to ensure that laboratory spaces are clean functional safe and usable. Coordinate visits by outside vendors for service and repair of equipment that cannot be performed by technical staff. Additional Duties Work with the facilities coordinator to oversee usage of storage spaces throughout Schmid facilities and track assets being stored. Assist faculty and technical staff to devise and implement best practices in lab operations. Work with faculty and staff to ensure that laboratory spaces are clean functional safe and usable.
Required Qualifications
Ability to use word processing spreadsheet chemical inventory and electronic mail software Technical ability to learn and use enterprise software. Ability to use the internet as an informational resource Ability to prioritize tasks and needs associated with a large volume of laboratories Ability to interpret and apply departmental laboratory policies regulations and procedures Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with other staff department faculty and college administrators. Ability to keep and maintain excellent records regarding distribution use maintenance and storage of laboratory equipment apparatus materials and supplies Knowledge of general safe workplace and/or laboratory practices Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of students staff and faculty Ability to work independently and comprehend a process and or procedure culminating in seeing a given task through from start to finish Experience in ordering receiving and distribution of assets or general supply chain coordination in a science and engineering environment and building.
