Team Outreach

Purpose
To support the Outreach team in editing research publications articles explainers and any other relevant documents per the organisations SOPs and style guidelines.Experience in editing academic reports and technical research is preferred. The freelance editor should possess excellent communication and editing skills with knowledge of current affairs and be interested in ongoing debates and discussions in sustainability public policy and climate change. The candidate should be solutionoriented detailoriented and committed to adhering to timelines.
Deliverables and Responsibilities
Strengthen our Executive Summaries. They must present upfront the critical
research gaps the study is filling and the key findings/ recommendations in a clear
navigable format.
Review and suggest changes to strengthen the Executive Summary of our reports
logical flow and prevent text duplication and dense technical jargon where possible.
Edit reports articles and explainers per CEEW's publications SOP and style guide
consistently.
Correct grammatical errors punctuation and spelling mistakes.
Provide constructive feedback and work with authors on ways to improve their work.
Keep uptodate with industry trends and best practices in editing and publishing.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
Masters/PG degree/Diploma in literature mass communications journalism public
policy or any related field preferred.
Work experience and other skills
5 years' experience in editing research papers policy briefs and reports.
Excellent eye for detail to identify grammar spelling punctuation and formatting
errors.
Able to review and revise text for clarity coherence flow and overall quality
Must be familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style and apply the rules and
conventions of referencing.
Comfortable editing different types of content such as articles blog posts
explainers research papers policy briefs and other kinds of reports.
Effective time management skills to prioritise certain content meet deadlines and
ensure timely delivery of edited materials.
Interest in sustainability issues and the ability to understand technical jargon will be
an asset.
Excellent grasp of UK English.
