The NERC Ratings Compliance & Standards Staff Engineer is responsible for maintaining LIPA compliance with evolving NERC FAC008 Transmission Facility Ratings. This position will work closely and collaboratively with Transmission Operations System Reliability Asset Management Projects & Construction East Division West Division Engineering and the Planning Departments in an effort to maintain NERC FAC008 compliance. This position offers problem solving and challenging leadership opportunities on various NERC Facility Ratings initiatives and represents PSEGLI/LIPA in various key internal and external stakeholder committees.
The main job duties entail ensuring compliance with requirements for all applicable LIPA Bulk Electric System (BES) facilities and elements that are subject to the NERC FAC008 standard. This includes but is not limited to:
Required Skills Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical or Civil Engineering
A minimum of 4 years of experience in System Operations and/or Transmission and Distribution systems.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills
Effective problemsolving and decisionmaking skills; strong planning and organizing skills; adaptable and resultsoriented
Possess leadership skills professionalism and customer/client focus
As the job requires driving to Company locations and offsite assignments and events must possess a valid
U.S. drivers license with a safe and satisfactory driving history
Preferred / Desired Skills:
Electrical utility experience
Familiarity with the transmission and distribution systems
Able to read I understand electrical one lines
Engineering in Training Certificate
Advanced technical degree or MBA
Project Management or Lean Six Sigma Certification
