Base location: Chatham Kent Travelling between sites required therefore driving licence essential

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Manager within our Wastewater function to support our Asset Maintenance and Standards operations. You will be primarily responsible and accountable for the completion of updating Southern Waters internal systems and tracking of works training records hazards and store audits attending compliance meetings with other departments inputting pollution reports to ensure our asset maintenance standards are maintained effectively.

You will managing the team in the absence of the Field Performance Managers as you will deputise for leave and delegated requirements meeting performance continuity for an operational area and role succession. Working closely within our internal teams you will be liaising with our technical planning and scheduling team and using your expertise to plan in complex works safely and resolve longstanding and reactive issues planning activities to deliver repairs inspections and maintenance on treatment works and the networks.

As a developing leader you will work with the team to support high standards of employee engagement and consultation with internal stakeholders. Proactively monitoring and escalating on performance shortfalls and implementing strategic improvement initiatives through advice and coaching is essential for this role.

To give you our background we provide wastewater services to 4.6 million customers. Our 39900km of sewers and 3476 pumping stations collect wastewater from our customers. Each day 1371 million litres of wastewater is received at our 367 treatment works.

Therefore you will demonstrate a strong technical and operational background a focus on Health and Safety risk and Environmental impact together with a collaborative approach and clear drive for continuous improvement by undertaking site audits to ensure compliance with asset maintenance expectations asset/plant standards site cleanliness and performance.

Your responsibilities also includes:

To keep an overview of performance against ISO14001 and ISO9001 standards within an operational area to ensure compliance

Assesses and Evaluates Risks to Health Safety Security Wellbeing and Environmental Management conditions within an operational area

Responsible for the completion of statutory Health Safety and Environmental audits (including SSI EMS)

Management and ownership to completion of all identified Hazards within an operational area and administration of Hazard Database

Responsible for mitigating and progressing to solution HSSW Hazards identified

Ensuring specific issues identified by the team are reported to the FPM at required priority as per escalation guidelines

Assisting the team to meet performance targets through coaching and mentoring

Supporting as required where performance improvement needs within the team are identified.

Expected to build relationships across Southern Water to ensure that business units work in partnership to deliver the companys strategic goals

A curious individual with passion to develop into team management you will have a good understanding of electrical and mechanical trades within a regulated environment such as Regulatory and Legal Environmental policy waste management licensing and the Health & Safety at Work act.

It will be highly desirable for you to have a background working within Wastewater treatment however we welcome applicant who has strong operational background with clear track record of delivering to health safety and environmental targets.
