You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Trico Changemakers Studio brings together community organizations and students immersed in Calgarys social innovation milieu to work alongside each other and collaborate on new innovative ideas that address social and/or environmental challenges. The space serves as a community coworking space social R&D space and studio space for MRU students enrolled in any faculty on campus working on social innovation and changemaking challenges.
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute for Community Prosperity the Communications and Engagement Strategist is responsible for designing and implementing communications and engagement strategies programs activities and events that creatively engage students faculty staff and the broader community with Institute initiatives and programs enhancing the profile of both the Institute and MRU.As a key member of the Institute team the Communications and Engagement Strategist works in a highly collaborative creative and dynamic environment contributing to a welcoming and inclusive culture at the Institute and MRU.
This is a full time limited term position ending April 032026.
Responsibility 1 80 : COMMUNICATIONS
Maintain strong awareness of ICPs ongoing initiatives to ensure the unique communications needs of each program are met.
Develop and manage ICPs communications materials including communications plans branding guides and public facing communications channels.
Activate ICPs social media channels with content related to projects social labs community partners events and campus changemaking initiatives
Develop and distribute content for the Community Prosperity Bulletin.
Create social impact stories lab case studies and changemaker profiles.
Utilizing program and ICP branding to create graphics and other key visual items for communication and promotional purposes.
Update ICPs website on a regular basis with necessary changes.
Track and analyze ICPs communications channels and assist with evaluation and reporting as needed.
Check file and respond to emails in the delegated ICP general email address.
Responsibility 2 10 : ENGAGEMENT EVENTS
Design lead and manage Institute related engagement events
Coordinate and oversee event logistics onsite set up and evaluation and reporting
Responsibility 3 10 : STUDIO ANIMATION ASSISTANCE
Assist the Studio Administrator in coordinating and overseeing all activities happening within the Studio on a daily basis including workshops classes meetings and events.
Identify develop and implement opportunities to activate the Studio with changemaking activities and events.
Activate the Studio with physical signage and visual engagement highlighting Institute programming and events as well as campus happenings related to changemaking.
Assist the Studio Administrator in overseeing and maintaining online room booking system.
Other duties as assigned.
Undergraduate degree and 23 years experience in a relevant field/role (community development social change public relations community engagement nonprofit)
Highly skilled in public relations with exceptional interpersonal and communications skills and event planning experience.
Experience working in a postsecondary environment with faculty staff and students and/or complex public sector environment.
Relevant experience in stakeholder engagement / partnership management and building capacity for changemaking.
Ability to seek out and build new relationships and partnerships across different disciplines and backgrounds and at different institutional levels.
Comfortable with public speaking and experience with group facilitation.
Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision prioritizing and self identifying opportunities and efficiencies.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a dynamic diverse and collaborative team.
Demonstrated leadership decision making problem solving and planning skills.
Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage diverse activities meet deadlines and being flexible and adaptive to changing situations and priorities.
Demonstrated experience in program development design and implementation.
Experience in developing social media content and campaigns.
Proficient in current office technology social media platforms and contact management databases.
Salary: $60571 $76640 per annum
