Senior Development Planners focus on the early formulation of upstream projects including articulation of a technical and basis and an associated business case and support decisionmaking with economic analysis. Senior Development Planners typically have expertise in one or more job family skills and serve as resources to mentor and develop the broader organization.
Job Role Responsibilities
- Leads efforts to coordinate and integrate the upstream to evaluate strategic opportunity pursuits with the view to deliver profitable volumes.
- Integrates the activities of multifunctional teams (engineers geoscientists operations and commercial specialists) during concept selection.
- Works in an environment of high technical and commercial uncertainty ensuring that a wide range of technical and commercial concepts are thoroughly evaluated and compared and finding creative ways to develop profitable volumes.
- Uses profitability analysis and presentation skills to frame business opportunities in support of management decision making and project implementation.
- Leads input into opportunity evaluations by other upstream companies prior to Gate 1 particularly EMEC and EMUV but often also G&PM and EMPC. This often includes coordinating other EMPC and EMDC functions (reservoir C&S Drilling facilities etc. to generate appropriate screening concepts and screening estimates and facilitating progression of new project opportunities to EMCAPS Gate 1.
- Participates in Select Stage efforts. This most often means supporting a Select Stage Manager but can include leading multifunctional teams to evaluate development alternatives and select the concept and plan that best satisfy business objectives.
- Serves as resource for training schools seminars and networks.
- Influences technology development and application.
- Serves as focal point for transferring knowledge / experiences / learnings. Mentors others within area of expertise.
- NOTE: Expect to focus on development to Level 4 (Advanced Expert) competency on 4 of the 7 functional skills.
