Job Description

Role Overview

Are you a rising star in the Jewish professional world or do you aspire to be Do you see resource development as a critical function of Hillels success Hillel of Colorado seeks a fulltime Development Director to begin in Summer 2025. Reporting to the Executive Director this key team member will lead all fundraising efforts except Major Gift and Legacy campaigns which they will support. As part of the Leadership Team the Director will develop and execute a multipronged fundraising strategy for a thriving statewide Hillel serving 2000 Jewish students across multiple campuses. They will oversee appeals campaigns donor cultivation grassroots fundraising and special events while launching Hillels first alumni fundraising initiative.

Based at The Merage & Allon Hillel Center near the University of Denver the Director will work closely with the Executive Director Assistant Director Marketing Manager and Bookkeeper to enhance financial sustainability and expand Hillels presence on additional campuses. Their leadership will help ensure Jewish student life continues to thrive providing welcoming vibrant communities where students can stay proudly Jewish and engaged in their heritage during these critical times.

What Youll Do

  • Development & Implement Strategy: in partnership with the Executive Director design a comprehensive annual development plan to maintain and enhance Hillels fiscal health and implement that plan through clear processes that include daily oversight of fundraising goals.
  • Steward & Donor Engagement: institutionalize and implement a stewardship plan that (i) provides support to current donor stewards; (ii) significantly increases the number of stewarded donors; and (iii) identifies new major gift prospects and their stewards while personally cultivating soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of midlevel donors and curating a portfolio of major donors for the ED and key board members.
  • Campaigns and Appeals: support the Assistant Director and Marketing Manager as they implement Hillels twice/year crowdfunding (digital appeals) through tools such as email text messaging social media direct mail and snail mail. Assure these annual campus and community appeals are wellintegrated into the overall Development and Marketing plans to ensure campus development success.
  • Back Office: work with the Marketing Manager and Bookkeeper to ensure Hillels Little Green Light (LGL) donor database is curated uptodate accurate and captured donor data and interactions to ensure Hillel employs best practices in recordkeeping across the development and financial operations.

Other Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of Hillels staff leadership team.
  • Attend Board of Trustees and Budget & Finance Committee meetings and staff the Board Development Committee.
  • Establish sustaining relationships with potential current and past donors in Colorado and beyond.
  • Initiate and staff our firstever alumni fundraising campaign that will become a major source of advocacy and income for Hillel including reaching out to university alumni and development departments and moderating universityspecific and geographicspecific groups on Hillel Internationals Jewish Career Network platform.
  • Along with other leadership team members represent Hillel in the community to raise Hillels profile.
  • When necessary plan and execute Hillel of Colorado fundraising events in coordination with the Executive Director and Assistant Director.

Who You Are

  • You have a college degree from an accredited institution. An advanced degree is a bonus.
  • You have a minimum of 35 years working in development or a closely related field. Nonprofit experience or employment in a missiondriven organization is a bonus.
  • You see yourself as a leader and have work experience that prepares you to be on a leadership team.
  • You have demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills and are proficient in Microsoft Suite applications CRM and data management. Experience with LGL is a bonus.

About Hillel of Colorado

Hillel of Colorado inspires Jewish students to cultivate a lifelong connection to Jewish life learning and Israel. As an independent 501(c)3 affiliated with Hillel International it serves over 2000 Jewish students across metro Denver and northern Colorado providing a welcoming pluralistic community. With hubs at the University of Denver (DU) and Colorado State University (CSU) as well as a newly established presence at Denvers Auraria Campus Hillel fosters student leadership Jewish learning and social engagement. Programs include Shabbat dinners holiday celebrations and campuswide events offering students meaningful opportunities to connect with their heritage and peers. CSU Hillels largescale programs such as Holocaust remembrance events and interfaith gatherings engage more than 1000 students. Hillel continues to expand its reach ensuring Jewish students across Colorados campuses have a vibrant supportive community that enhances their college experience and strengthens their Jewish identity.
