Your impact
Weve built a fantastic (and highly rated) mobile experience for students to discover jobs events and information from their peers over the past few years. Weve focused quite a bit on creating a delightful user experience but we have so much more work to do!
In this role you will build new experimental features implement core architecture and craft new ways to help students find and build meaningful careers. You will be involved from design all the way to release; working closely with product design and engineering teams to create a fantastic experience for our users. You will have the opportunity to shape the foundation of Android development and mobile culture at Handshake.

Your role
Lead the development of innovative Android features that deepen user engagement and build community.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including product design and other engineering teams to create seamless impactful experiences.
Shape the culture and foundations of Android development within the team setting best practices and mentoring peers.
Influence Handshakes mobile strategy focusing on usercentric features that drive growth and build confidence.
Create highimpact features that resonate with Gen Z helping them explore opportunities authentically.

Your experience
You have at least 6 years of experience as an Android engineer
Proficient with Android and related technologies. (ie Kotlin Android Studio Jetpack Compose)
Handson experience with Android 15.
Proven ability to own features or systems endtoend from ideation and development to production and maintenance.
Experienced in mentoring junior engineers conducting thorough code reviews and sharing knowledge on best practices and industry trends.
You have an eye for good design
You appreciate friendly user experiences
You are selfdriven and able to prioritize your time
You are a problem solver and a critical thinker who can communicate effectively
You have professional working experience with the Android native platform
You have on the job experience with UI development design principles patterns and best practices
You have on the job experience with data persistence RESTful APIs GraphQL MVC and MVVMC architectures
Bonus areas of expertise
Experience working on social media applications
Skilled in managing highquality video and image workflows including uploads processing and playback using AVFoundation or similar frameworks.
Mobile platform experience
Working with a design system library
Expertise in diagnosing and resolving app performance issues CI/CD and DD monitoring.
Compensation range
$180000 $220000
For cash compensation we set standard ranges for allU.S.based rolesbased on function level and geographic location benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
