Job Description

Job Title:Education Technology Specialist
Department:Technology
Reports To:Lead Technology Specialist/Director of Technology
FLSA Status:NonExempt
Position Type:FullTime
Location:Thornwell and Thornwell Charter School
Summary:

Under general supervision the Education Technologist provides training support and expertise in the effective use of technology within Thornwell and Thornwell Charter School. Responsibilities include managing Chromebook inventory performing basic repairs offering technical assistance and supporting various technology projects and initiatives. This role may require working outdoors and climbing small ladders to install maintain or troubleshoot equipment as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides professional development and daily support to teachers and staff on integrating technology effectively into classroom instruction.
  • Manages Chromebook inventory including distribution tracking maintenance and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting repairs and maintenance for Chromebooks and related technology equipment.
  • Provides firstlevel technical support for technology questions issues and work orders submitted by staff.
  • Assists staff in installation customization and maintenance of instructional and administrative computer systems networks and related technology.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of technical support activities inventory management and project progress.
  • Develops proficiency in instructional and administrative technology software solutions hardware peripherals multimedia and communication devices.
  • Provides training sessions orientations and creates instructional manuals and handouts as necessary.
  • Advises on the acquisition and implementation of new technology and software.
  • Responds promptly to routine and emergency technology support requests.
  • Keeps informed of advancements in technology by reviewing professional journals publications and technical resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Job Specifications:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology Education Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience in desktop/laptop support and technology integration particularly in a K12 educational environment.
  • Classroom teaching experience is highly desirable.
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • A Certification beneficial but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong technical knowledge of Chromebooks Google Workspace for Education computer hardware software networks and peripheral devices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to teachers staff and administrators.
  • Excellent problemsolving troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inventory and records.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks adapting flexibly to various demands and deadlines.
  • Proficient in reading analyzing and interpreting technical instructions manuals and professional materials.
Physical Demands:
  • Routine lifting of technology equipment weighing up to 25 pounds occasional lifting/moving of items up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting standing walking traveling between school locations and working extensively with computers and electronic equipment.
  • Employing ladders for accessing and servicing technology equipment.
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed primarily indoors with occasional exposure to varying noise levels.
