CalState TEACH Teacher Preparation Program
CalStateTEACH is an online sitebased Multiple Subject Teacher Preparation Program that prepares creative collaborative and reflective teachers. We are ecosensitive and techno inventive. We have a complex mobile learning initiative dedicated to preparing tomorrows teachers and ameliorating the digital divide in rural remote and urban underserved schools.
CalStateTEACH is looking for teacher educators to prepare teachers for tomorrows schools. We are searching for experienced teacher leaders or administrators who are open to change and ready to develop 21st century skills and knowledge. We expect faculty to be grounded in educational technology and have experience in the use of an array of software. We require that faculty have a depth of experience in clinical supervision and understand the nature of instructional rounds.
Duties of the Position:
Each faculty member is assigned to support a group of multiple subject candidates throughout the course of their credential program. The faculty member works with candidates through a CalStateTEACH Regional Center reporting to the Regional Director. Specific duties and responsibilities fall in the following three areas:
1. Teaching/Advising
Interview candidates for program admission; advise candidates; develop and support a cohort as a learning community; guide candidates online learning through implementation of the CalStateTEACH curriculum; support candidates as they learn practice and reflect on the Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs); provide helpful feedback regarding their progress toward meeting the TPEs; provide formative and summative assessment of classroom performance and required written work including welldesigned formative assessments that resemble the pedagogical assessment tasks in the embedded Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA); make field placements to meet credential requirements and program regulations; supervise sitebased classroom instruction; serve as liaison to schoolsite personnel; and participate in and assure the selection and support of sitebased mentor teachers. Responsibilities may also include supporting candidates who need CSET preparation participating in the planning and delivery of regional seminars and facilitating cohort meetings during Saturday seminars.
2. Program and Faculty Development
Attend all regular regional faculty meetings and CalStateTEACH statewide faculty meetings; serve on regional and statewide committee(s); contribute to the development and revision of curriculum to ensure program quality; achieve and maintain calibration on CalTPA Tasks; become expert in the CalStateTEACH curriculum delivery format policies and procedures and online instruction; stay abreast of developing technologies employed in the CalStateTEACH program interview.
3. Other Related Activities
Contact potential candidates; participate in recruitment/outreach activities including job fairs andprofessional conferences; participate in local meetings county offices and professionaleducational consortiums; and collaborate with local school districts in determining appropriateclinical placements.
Rank and Position:
Selected candidates are hired as lecturers by the CSU campus affiliated with the Regional Center and areplaced according to education and experience on the CSU faculty salary schedule.
Salary Range Commensurate with experience within ranks established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers).
The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Masters degree is $4530.00 $6056.00 per a month when teaching full time 15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term.
Instructor Responsibility: Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and systemwide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation delivery conducting proctoring and grading (as appropriate) lectures office hours homework assignments quizzes class projects and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous synchronous inperson or hybrid).
Conditional Appointment
Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the Order of Work or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.
Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State isnot a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).
Anticipated Semester
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of parttime lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. The number of positions varies from semester to semester depending on the needs of the Department. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
