JOB SUMMARY:

The RN Clinical Nurse Program Coordinator is a Masters prepared nurse who plans coordinates develops and evaluates the operational functions of programs and initiatives within their area of specialty to ensure that quality cost effective health care is provided to patients and their families. The RN Clinical Nurse Program Coordinator collaborates with nursing leadership the Medical Director for the area and members of the healthcare team to implement evidencebased programs and initiatives. The RN Clinical Nurse Program Coordinator maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

MSN MHA or Masters degree in the jobrelated field of work required.

Certification within specialty area required (within 2 years if not currently certified) or within 1 year of eligibility for certification.

2 years nursing experience required; 5year experience preferred. Project management experience preferred.

LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION:

Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for NonNational License Compact states current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategizes plans and appropriately executesprograms/initiatives.
  • Synthesizes and analyzes literature research data current literature and practice standards to develop quality cost effective programs/initiatives.
  • Oversees and coordinates program/ initiative operations for specified service line acting as a resource for nursing leadership and the multidisciplinaryteam.
  • Coordinates the clinical care of patients with the multidisciplinary team throughout the program/ initiative to ensure continuity ofcare.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership direct care nurses and members of the multidisciplinary team to assess develop implement and evaluate appropriate education initiatives for the serviceline.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership and direct care nurses to assess develop implement and evaluate nursing competencies required for care of patients during programsand initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Carolinas HealthCare System teams and task forces on performance improvement LEAN and other quality improvementprojects.
  • Ensures effective communication throughout the project/initiative continuum to support ongoing progress toward identifiedoutcomes.
  • Reviews available quality data including nurse sensitive outcomes and HCAPS. Seeks opportunities to make improvements or reduce risks associated with providing patientcare.
  • Synthesizes and evaluates program/initiative data to determine effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Provides leadership in establishing and meeting program/ initiative goals andmilestones.
  • Assists leadership in seeking ways to manage resources by reducing costs and improving the effectiveness ofcare.
  • Acts as an expert resource and consultant to the healthcare team in the development of policies procedures and standards ofcare.
  • Role models professional nursing practice through conduct appearance communication leadership ethical decisionmaking critical thinking and problem s o l v i n gskills.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide and evaluate advanced age appropriatecare.
  • Participates in continuing education offerings to maintain own level of competency for programrelatedtopics
  • Identifies areas for study and participates in service line researchactivities.
  • Disseminates findings or information through professional publications and/orpresentations.
  • Performs special projects asassigned.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office database management

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.

Effective organizational interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to critically think exercise judgment and discretion for problem solving and decisionmaking.

Ability to prioritize work independently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Subject to many interruptions

Occasionally subjected to irregular hours

Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

Frequent pressure related to multiple calls inquires and diversity of primary customer needs.

May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and a variety of other data systems including publishing and authoring tools and database management.

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality.
