The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Maintenance & Operations is looking for an Equipment Operator SubJourney 2 to help us
Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
As an Equipment Operator SubJourney 2 for Northern Region Maintenance and Operations you will be completing tasks such as:
Perform manual labor such as thawing culverts patching potholes cutting brush and picking up litter.
Assist with patching crews including shoveling raking and operating chip spreaders.
Operate specialized equipment like sweepers forklifts sealers whackers and chainsaws.
Repair and replace traffic signs and guardrails.
Change heavy equipment blades tires and perform routine equipment maintenance.
Set up and maintain work zones to meet federal safety regulations.
Provide direction for flaggers and act as a backup flagger for crew safety.
Drive lightduty vehicles to work zones and refuel equipment as necessary.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is based in Tok Alaska within the Tok District a region known as the Gateway to the Interior. Tok offers a remote yet accessible location surrounded by beautiful wilderness and outdoor recreation opportunities. Located along the Alaska Highway Tok serves as a key access point to Alaskas interior with a mix of resource industries and tourism. The area provides a unique setting for those who enjoy working in a challenging dynamic environment with a strong sense of community.
