Job Description
The Psychophysiology Lab for Affective Neuroscience PLAN ; https://artsandsciences.utulsa/psychophys/ in the University of Tulsas Department of Psychology seeks candidates for a 2 fulltime Research Assistant Professors RAP who will report to the director of the lab (Jamie Rhudy PhD). Each position comes with salary benefits research space and startup funds. Successful candidates will spend 25 of their time working on an NIH / NCCIH funded project that investigates the role of structural racism and discrimination SRD in the Native American chronic pain inequity. The remaining 75 of time will be spent developing their own successful line of research and stream of external funding under the umbrella of a new initiative to develop a center to combat health inequities. The RAPs will work closely with Dr. Jamie Rhudy (PI) CoIs (Joanna Shadlow PhD Travis Lowe PhD) and other PLAN researchers. Advanced training will be provided in psychophysiological assessment of stress and pain (e.g. EEG EMG EKG respiration skin conductance) quantitative sensory testing (e.g. temporal summation conditioned pain modulation contact heat evoked potentials) as well as blood (HbA1c hs CRP lipids) and salivary (cortisol) biomarkers of allostatic load. The RAPs have the option of being involved with all aspects of the NIH funded study. The project is approved by the University of Tulsa Cherokee Nation and Indian Health ServiceOklahoma City area office IRBs. There will be ample opportunities for authorship/coauthorship on presentations and publications from PLAN projects as well as opportunities to teach and mentor.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with biomedical outcomes biomarkers and/or psychophysiology is encouraged but not required. Individuals with ties to or knowledge of Indigenous culture are strongly encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications Applicants should have a PhD in psychology or a related field; strong written and oral communication skills; cultural awareness and humility; and interest in combating health inequities. Reliable transportation and ability to travel is required.
