Duties And Responsibilities
Reporting to the Culinary Services Director the Associate Director Residential Dining provides seniorlevel leadership and direction for 2 residential dining halls the bakery operation and the CSD custodial team to consistently achieve high quality food and beverage production and service. Ensure that systems are in place and are being assessed regularly to provide the best service possible at the 2 residential dining halls the bakery operation and the CSD custodial team. Systems to include: front of house and back of house operations human resources sustainability initiatives and budgets/financial activities. Ensures compliance is being maintained in accordance with policies and procedures of associated systems. Active participation in the CSD Leadership team to develop implement and maintain a comprehensive culinary program departmental standard operating procedures and departmental short and long term goals. Direct supervision of 1 Senior Executive Chef 3 General Managers and 1 Custodial Supervisor II (hiring training evaluating etc) and oversight and seniorlevel supervision of departments human resources up to 155 fulltime culinary staff and up to 620 students/temporary employees. Sets and evaluates staffing shortterm and longterm goals as they relate to hiring training scheduling professional development and evaluation of all levels of staff. Maintain effective and collaborative relationships with relevant members of the university and greater community to include University Student Housing Dean of Students Office Legal Counsel University Police Safety & Risk University Facilities Management Gallatin College and other campus partners. Collaborates with University Student Housing on marketing plans for housing and dining as they relate to recruitment and retention of students. Regularly analyzes outcomes of marketing strategies. Assists CSD leadership team in directing the divisions outreach efforts including MSU Friday Catapalooza Orientations etc. On behalf of the division presents at events as needed. Evaluates and strengthens residential dinings customer service initiatives in support of the universitys commitment to service excellence. Regularly interacts with staff students and other customers to network and gather feedback about the operations. Active participation in development and maintenance of operational budgets and the Housing/Dining Repair & Replacement (R&R) budget. Oversees a variety of fiscal management activities including: invoicing and billing for the areas compliance with money handling and reconciling compliance with purchasing rules regular reporting etc. Provide large and small project management direction inclusive of oversight of facilities maintenance immediate and deferred needs and new construction. Oversees food and dry goods contracts. Ensures compliance with contracts per policies and procedures. Coordinates with their management team to identify and set short and long term production budgetary sustainability and Farm to Campus goals. Ensures goals align with the Directors vision for the division. Oversees the custodial efforts for all CSD areas to ensure clean and sanitary facilities. Ensures that inventory tracking and usage systems are in place and compliance is being maintained throughout all areas. Coordinates and executes all summer conferencing contracts for the dining halls. As a member of the CSD Leadership Team responds to immediate and critical student and customer concerns. Assists in day to day activities as needed. And actively participates as part of the team while performing other duties in support of the Enterprises mission.
