We partner with clients and the community to promote recovery from mental illness and substance use treating more than 7500 adults and children each year. CMHA is looking to hire a fulltime 40 hours per week Clinician I for our schoolbased program.This position will be located at 255 Bank Street Waterbury CT. (Mon Fri 8:00 am 4:00 pm).
Compensation:$57k minimum to $76k maximum per year.
Starting salary will be determined based on relevant years of experience.
Position Summary:The schoolbased Clinician serves as active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides schoolbased outpatient services in a structured therapeutic environment for children and adolescents who present with a wide range of behavioral health needs. Engages parents family members and other pertinent adults to support the child through the therapeutic process. Treatment is aimed at assisting individuals and families by helping them develop the skills necessary to improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities:
  • Assesses diagnoses and recommends appropriate treatment for child and family and assists with appropriate referrals and linkage to other services.
  • Completes assessment tool integrates pertinent information to establish diagnosis and analyzes data to create clinical formulation within designated timeframe.
  • Develops achievable goals with client and family; with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes. Monitors treatment progress and provides updates within identified timeframes and as necessary.
  • Performs individual family and group treatment utilizing evidencebased practices to facilitate positive strengthbased change.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with external agencies such as schools pediatricians DCF juvenile court and other social service agencies.
  • Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately communicating clearly with professionals internal and external to meet presenting client needs.
  • Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources as necessary to address client need.
  • Secures reimbursement by obtaining authorizations providing accurate documentation and submitting progress notes in a timely manner.
  • Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
  • Performs others related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must have a masters degree in behavioral health (psychology social work counseling marriage and family therapy and/or alcohol and drug counseling).
  • License eligible (MFTA LPCA LMSW) required.
  • Must be eligible for full licensure (LCSW LMFT LPC).
  • Certified in first aid and CPR.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
  • Valid CT Drivers License.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Demonstrates beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience in or the ability and willingness to learn how to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system which includes appointment scheduling authorization tracking assessments treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Strong Desire to work with children adolescents families and adults with serious behavioral health issues.
