Roles and Responsibilities
A business development professional has three primary responsibilities:
- Identifying new sales leads (Inbound & Outbound)
- Pitching products and/or services
- Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing and new customers / partners
Generating leads daytoday duties typically include:
- Researching organizations and individuals online (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential new markets
- Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up introduction & progression meetings
- Assist in the planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
Business Development duties include:
- Preparing PowerPoint presentations as required
- Contacting clients to inform them about new developments in the companys products
- Negotiating and renegotiating by phone email and in person
- Assist in training personnel and helping other team members develop their skills
- Protecting the organizations intellectual property and keeping all information strictly confidential.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
