Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct supervision technically and developmentally for assigned employees. This includes HR functions financial and technical training and mentoring and day to day support to achieve better than estimated productivity on assigned projects.
- Provides input to sales and operations regarding the technical and business considerations for construction or direct owner projects. This input could be associated with areas such as estimating timing special resource needs or other aspects peculiar to specific projects.
- Completes labor staffing worksheets and coordinates with other GOSs GOMs Sales or Operations Managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels for both overall headcount as well as anticipated skill sets.
- Determines if customer expectations are similar to Climatecs and if these can be achieved based upon Climatecs estimate or contractual scope. Provides feedback on this as appropriate internally and externally.
- Ensures projects are booked correctly and that all necessary forms are completed for both internal and external purposes.
- Ensures that each assigned project has accurately forecasted costs for each area of the project and that these are tracked to achieve budget and forecast goals.
- Oversees material needs and timing to maximize cash flow and material efficiency.
- Manages assigned Installation Specialists or Field Mechanics in coordination with outside contractors to achieve the best cash flow and installation productivity on assigned projects.
- Completes the monthly WIP reforecast and keeps necessary documentation to manage ongoing project or employee issues as they appear on the WIPs over time.
- Ensures that assigned projects are invoiced correctly and is involved in collections activities to minimize collections aging.
- Recommends technical solutions to sales and operations.
- Reviews estimates plans and specifications and proposals for completeness.
- Identifies change order opportunities and coordinates with sales to document pursue and book them.
- Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
- Communicate with internal employees as required to ensure Climatec labor is accurate and timely and estimated productivity is achieved in all areas.
- Provide leadership and input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation design installation start up commissioning and training for building systems.
- Communicate with external organizations as required such as consulting engineers building owners and other contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
- Ensures staff reviews all engineered submittals insuring adherence to scope budget and customer expectations as well as location standards.
- Works with direct reports to assist them in their development of personal goals. Reviews these goals with direct reports throughout the year and provides annual reviews as well as administration of salaries for these direct reports.
- Other duties as assigned that are needed to operate a profitable organization.
Skills & Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of Two year Technical degree mandatory.
- Two year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics related studies or an undergraduate degree in Electrical Mechanical Construction Management or other related studies.
- Other technical experience such as military on the job training programs etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
- Experience and expertise including but not limited to:
- An understanding of basic computer operating systems.
- Some experience with programming.
- Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a very diverse workforce and being able to work through complicated human resource issues.
- A deep understanding of Climatecs leadership culture and values.
- An ability to work with assigned employees to motivate and develop them and ensure their success.
- A strong business and financial awareness and the ability to apply these to a portfolio of projects to maximize cash flow profits and customer and employee satisfaction.
- Strong understanding of estimating work in the building controls industry.
- Ability to find efficiencies in work flow and institute change using software and advanced tools to automate processes where possible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four year Technical degree.
- The ability to configure and debug basic computer problems.
- A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters amp meters oscilloscopes etc.
- The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
- A working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers multiphase power etc. 120VAC and greater)
- A thorough understanding of HVAC operations within a facility if working in the controls field. If working in the Special Systems division an understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes is beneficial.
Essential Job Functions:
- Be able to lift and carry drawings personal computers material etc.
- Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
- Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record which per Climatecs vehicle policy.
- Be physically able to kneel stoop and crawl.
