Job Description
Teknion Custom Solutions is looking for a General Laborer. A General Laborer should have some experience in a woodworking manufacturing environment be able and willing to take on a variety of tasks and jobs as needed and be driven to learn new skills.
What are the general duties & tasks
- Wrapping and packaging furniture
- Be able to lift and maneuver heavy objects
- Sanding and preparing of wood products for finishing
- Cleaning and preparing materials for process through production.
- Building drawer boxes and other production pieces
- Assembly of furniture
- Assisting cabinetmakers with daily tasks
- Be aware of the hazards when working around all tools on the shop floor;
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Understand and follow standard safety rules and procedures.
Are there any prerequisites for this role
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to learn a variety of new skills/tasks
- Must be organized and able to prioritize work activities based upon primary duties; and
- Is inquisitive by nature and driven by the pursuit of excellence to consistently ensure constant growth and achievement.
- Demonstrates good initiative working safely reporting and participating in Environmental Health and Safety.
Assets:
- Previous experience in a wood or manufacturing shop and the use of power tools
