Job Description
Position: Mobile Crane Operator and Storekeeper
Overview: Surespan Construction is seeking a dedicated and versatile Mobile Crane Operator and Storekeeper to join our team at the Surespan yard in Langley BC. This comprehensive role combines the operation of mobile cranes with storekeeping duties requiring a candidate who can manage inventory effectively while also safely operating cranes within the yard and assisting with the movement of trucks and trailers. Key Responsibilities:
Mobile Crane Operation:
- Operate mobile cranes to lift move and place materials as required.
- Ensure proper rigging and secure loads according to safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of the crane to ensure safe operation.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute lifting operations safely and efficiently.
Storekeeping Duties:
- Manage inventory of tools equipment and materials ensuring proper storage and organization.
- Issue and receive tools and equipment to and from workers maintaining accurate records.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe store area.
- Assist with ordering supplies and tracking shipments.
- Perform regular inventory audits and report discrepancies.
Truck and Trailer Shunting:
- Safely operate trucks and trailers within the yard.
- Transport trucks and trailers to and from repair facilities as needed.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly secured and comply with safety standards.
- Perform pretrip and posttrip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and maintenance.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 BC Drivers License.
- Mobile Crane Certification.
- Experience in crane operation storekeeping inventory management or a related field.
- Ability to use common yard tools hand tools and electric tools.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols on a work site.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Reliable hardworking and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and recordkeeping.

- Salary: Competitive wage and benefit packages commensurate with experience discussed during the interview.
