About our School:
St. Michaels Catholic Preparatory School (formerly St. Gabriels Catholic School and St. Michaels Catholic Academy) is an outstanding coeducational Independent Catholic school serving students from PreKindergarten through 12th grade on two adjacent campuses in Austin Texas. Summary of Position:
St. Michaels Prep is looking for a school nurse substitute to serve as the health and wellness expert for our school. This position serves 450 students in grades PreK12. This is a parttime nonexempt hourly/oncall position with the opportunity to work 10 months of the year.
Candidates must:
- Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school day
- Have experience with diabetic children and their daily health care needs.
- Provide quality nursing care to ill or injured students or faculty/staff during the school day.
- Provide health information and inservice programs on health topics to students parents and faculty.
- Manage school health records in accordance with the State of Texas as well as the Diocese of Austin requirements.
- Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations physical examinations and medical conditions.
- Initiate contact with and act as a liaison between home school community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Maintain electronic health records within the school website system. (Experience with Magnus).
- Maintain communication with administrators teachers staff and school families to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of the students.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of school health policies.
- Coordinate student health curriculum with physical education department.
- Multitask and manage well the simultaneous needs of diabetic students and medication or first aid administration to other students.
Candidates should have:
- Knowledge of childrens intellectual social emotional and physical development
- Be excellent communicators possessing outstanding oral written and interpersonal skills both with children and adults
- Care good judgment and confidentiality in working with students and parents
- Strong organizational skills
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification
- Minimum of two years professional nursing experience preferably in a school or pediatric setting
