The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking an Assistant Director Law Enforcement Program/Instructor to play a key role in developing future officers fostering strong community partnerships and ensuring highquality law enforcement training. This 10month faculty position offers a unique blend of leadership instruction and program development to enhance student success and professional readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Training

  • Develop and apply inclusive studentcentered teaching methods tailored to community college learners.
  • Provide highquality instruction using lectures group activities and handson demonstrations.
  • Incorporate instructional technology and distance learning to enhance student engagement.
  • Assist in developing and updating curriculum to reflect industry standards and law enforcement best practices.
  • Maintain a strong record of teaching excellence with a focus on student success.

Program Leadership & Institutional Engagement

  • Assist the Program Director in managing training programs student progress and faculty coordination.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with law enforcement agencies technical advisory committees and community partners.
  • Participate in departmental planning assessment and student success initiatives.
  • Serve as a key liaison between CWI and Idaho POST (or equivalent state certification agencies).

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to Idaho POST regulations IDAPA rules and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain law enforcement certifications professional development and ongoing industry training.
  • Actively pursue Career Technical Education (CTE) certifications as required for the role.
  • Promote continuous learning and best practices in law enforcement training and education.

What Were Looking For:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required.
  • 10 years of law enforcement experience in good standing.
  • Current or retired POST certification (federal or statelevel in good standing).
  • Prior experience instructing POSTcertified courses or teaching criminal justice at the postsecondary level preferred.

Certifications & Compliance:

  • Idaho POST Instructor Certification (or equivalent from another state).
  • Familiarity with Idaho POST rules regulations and IDAPA policies.
  • Ability to obtain a CTE Limited Occupational Specialist (LOS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Commitment to pursuing a CTE Standard Occupational Specialist (SOS) certification within 36 months.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various teaching methodologies including handson online and hybrid learning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office instructional technology and online learning platforms.
  • Experience working with adult learners and community college students preferred.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to handle qualify with and instruct on various firearms.
  • Willingness to maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement training demonstrations.
  • Occasional exposure to environmental hazards unprotected heights or moving machinery.
