Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinatorserves aswater safety leadat a designated aquatics facility and provides excellent customerservice assists in thesupervision anddevelopment of seasonal water safety staff assists in the daytoday operation of the aquatics facility including water chemistrypool maintenanceand performs administrative duties as required to facilitate the success of the overallaquatics division.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as Manager on Duty and leadsin all areas of theaquatics includinglessons maintenance and lifeguarding where needed.
Leadsaquatics team membersat designated aquatics facility with responsibilities including but not limited to:
Promotes high levels of customer service developing relationships with community members and listening to and responding to customer feedback.
Promotes a positive and safe work environment for seasonal staff through regular communication supportive coaching and management.
Assists with the scheduling and supervision ofseasonal lifeguardswater safetyinstructorsand deck supervisors.
Attendsand assistswith staff inservice trainings. Attend regularly scheduled team meetings.
Ensures all possible safety measures are observed and enforces safety rules. This includes:
Enforces organizational policies rules and safety regulations related tooperation ofaquatics facilities.
Trains and leads lifeguardsand deck supervisors in water safety protocols including but not limited to: conducting inservice administering quick checks Lifeguard drills and other preventative practices.
Ensures water safety staff have appropriate certifications and receive regular ongoing training.
Monitors lifeguard performance for vigilance andeffective water safety surveillance.
Useof PersonalProtective Equipmentandensuressafe handling of pool chemicalsand bodily fluids.
Performs regular safety inspections ofaquatic facilitiesand equipment to reduce hazards and toprovidemaximum safety to the patronsand staff.
Maintains pool logs pool updates and incident and rescue reports.
Assists in facility maintenance and cleanliness.
Responsible for the safety of self others materials and equipment and uses all required safety equipment.
Performs a variety of administrative functions such as filing producing and maintaining signage copying course and training materials updating information boards providing input on course offerings staff scheduling and providing support for various center and aquatics employees.
Other:
Updates job knowledge of currentaquaticstrends techniques and equipment.
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city.
Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma and a minimum of 2 yearsrelated aquaticsexperience.
Ability to work courteously and effectively with the public including communicating department policies procedures and decisions.
Current certificationsin:American Red Cross LG CPRPR AED Basic First Aid.
Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
Ability to perform minor repairs on equipment.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple demands simultaneously.
Willingness and ability to work set schedule including early mornings nights and weekends.
Valid drivers license.
Have and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record and acceptable background information including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current Certifications in: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
Prior experience working in a municipal recreation facility.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma and a minimum of 2 yearsrelated aquaticsexperience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands
Ability to perform a wide range of strenuous physical and manual tasks in anaquaticsenvironment.Physical ability to stand walk and kneel;hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment; vision for reading recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and the public.
Work Environment
Works in both indoor and outdoor environments that are oftentimes impacted by chemical odors weather and at times unpredictable conditions.
Machines and Equipment Used
Uses various aquatics supplies and equipment filtration systems standard office equipment including personal computers calculators and copy/fax machines daily.Ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs.
