Space technology will enable global access to information solutions to climate change answers to global food security products that transform healthcare clean energy production and more. Today rocket launch options are slow expensive and unreliable. Stoke is building the worlds most efficient fully and rapidly reusable rocket designed to fly daily that will radically increase access to space and open up the space economy to safeguard our precious home Earth.
Description
Reusable launch systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. A strong and secure foundation is just as important to a rockets structure as it is to a rockets software. Your primary responsibility will be building and securing Stokes vehicle operating system used across the fleet. This OS will be used on several different hardware architectures and deployment regimes including the rocket test stands and pad infrastructure. The team will look to you as the expert in your OS kernel and drivers. You must stay focused move fast selfdirect and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Clean sheet creation of an embedded Linux operating system
- Contribute back to the open source community
- Work with fleet team to package the OS for over the air updating
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or similar
- Experience with embedded Linux creation via Yocto/Nix/Buildroot/Arch
- 2 years of experience of OS driver or system level development
- Experience with Linux kernel tailoring specifically PREEMPTRT
- Familiar with custom device tree blobs
- Familiar with Wireshark/tcpdump and the network stack
- Familiar with bootloaders like GRUB UEFI UBoot and coreboot
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bare metal deployment and orchestration
- Experience in Rust
- Worked in open source community projects
- Worked with industrial automation or safety critical systems

Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 2 Range: $117600 $176400
- Level 3 Range: $147000 $220500
- Level 4 Range: $183700 $275600
