In ARQUIMEA SPACE develops spaceflight parts and equipment for satellites and launchers. We specialize in thermal control systems structural panels optical payloads avionics release and deployment mechanisms and radhard microelectronics. Together with our tech partners we provide highthroughput smallsats and their subsystems. Our brandnew factory in Madrid is suited to integrate satellites and constellations.
We are looking for a SatComm RF & Antennas System Engineerwith the mission of taking responsibility for designing and developing architectures for communication payloads and their subsystems.
Tasks to be performed:
- Define the endtoend RF and antenna architecture ensuring traceability from mission objectives to systemlevel requirements.
- Define performance requirements based on mission requirements operational constraints (Power budget mass & dim budget Thermal Radiation Pointing accuracy) and regulatory compliance.
- Perform analysis and simulations of link budgets for space environments.
- Conduct tradeoff studies between different subsystems configuration and technologies ensuring performance vs complexity balance (OT/OC/OQ).
- Define adaptative resource allocation based on dynamic mission needs.
- Ensure compliance with requirements for integration with satellite platform.
- Support Validation System Engineer in the development of the qualification and validation plan (Component level qual System level validation Endtoend payload validation).
- Define on ground and in orbit validation methodologies to ensure compliance with mission performances.
- Collaborate with AIT engineers to optimize testing sequences integration procedures and troubleshooting.
- Subcontractor Management and oversight:
- Define technical specifications and compliance requirements for RF & antenna suppliers.
- Assist in RFP preparation.
- Evaluate technical proposals.
- Lead regular design review milestones participation (SRR PDR CDR MRR TRR).
- Compatibility verification between subcontractor deliverables and overall payload architecture.
- Collaborate in schedule tracking to prevent delays in deliveries.
- Define Acceptance Test Plans for subcontracted subsystems ensuring test reports and validation documentation is aligned with project requirements.
- Identify critical risks in suppliers.
- Define contingency plans for delays and nonconformities.
- Work with system engineers and AIT to implement design modification in case subcontractor deviations.
- Ensure compliance with space industry standards and protocols.
- Participate in new product development tasks including planning task estimation design verification integration and release.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and standards in RF space communications.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware development process improvements in collaboration with engineering management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure program goals are met.
Required skills experience and candidate profile:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering / Telecommunications or similar.
- MSc in Electronics Engineering / Telecommunications or similar.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a similar position.
- Previous experience in the design and development of space communication systems.
- Extensive experience in RF system design and active antenna development.
- Extensive experience in phased array synthesis and RF architectures design.
- Prior experience with active antenna technologies and related components.
- Understanding of space segment environmental constraints for RF systems.
- Advanced knowledge in RF frontend design and testing.
- Familiarity with software tools for RF simulation and analysis.
- Proficiency in simulation tools for system and circuit level analysis.
- Knowledge of advanced electronic instrumentation for RF testing.
- Strong analytical skills and problemsolving capabilities.
- Ability to work in collaborative and multidisciplinary environments.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Eligible to work in EU.
The position is located in our Headquarters of Torrejn de Ardoz (Madrid).
The candidate must be eligible to work in the EU and must be able to travel to the US.
