Job Description
We have a very exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor to join this legacy company and the primary purpose of this position is to relieve production and shipping supervisors and lab analysts. Supervise plant processing receiving packaging and shipping staff in order to maintain plant inventory levels. Verify and validate activities are completed per SOP.
This position reports to the Production Manager and will have 3040 production employees (entire production operation).
Responsibilities:
Direct staff on shift to efficiently perform tasks in a safe manner.
Assists Department Managers with and evaluation of practices in order to drive Continuous Improvement.
Analyze equipment related issues and other problems and effectively communicate issues between maintenance and other staff.
Inspect incoming and outgoing goods to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met.
Monitor packaging ingredient and finished product inventories to ensure needs are met.
Monitor and enforce sanitation instructions activities and verification.
Monitor and enforce Plant GMP SOPs
Ability to become certified by the State of Maryland in the operation of CHARM antibiotic testing equipment. This activity requires annual recertification.
Ability to perform sensory testing on finished products.
Document activities in accordance with SOP State and Federal guidelines.
Oversee and evaluate training of new staff members.
Schedule and/or cover staff vacancies as needed per SOP.
Communicate effectively with all levels of management and other departments.
Must be available to work any shift day and/or night.
Requirements:
College education: Bachelors degree in a business science or engineering field preferred
12 years or more of food manufacturing operational leadership experience.
Dairy experience desired but not mandatory.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Able to be flexible at times with hours worked.
Ability to work independently and function as a team player.
Ability to help lead operations in achieving key objectives and goals.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision independently or with a group.
Demonstrate reliability through good attendance and work ethic.
Highly organized and detail oriented.
Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Follow company policies and safety regulations
