We are a growing team looking for a Senior Accountant in the Finance department to help us on our journey to revolutionize road freight logistics. The role is located in our Antwerp or Berlin or Amsterdam office.
About the role:
The Senior Accountant position is integral to providing precise timely and actionable financial insights to our stakeholders. This role involves supporting financial reporting activities conducting indepth financial analyses and contributing significantly to the creation of monthly financial statements.
Additionally the Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger accounts while taking responsibility for designated departmental initiatives and projects. Success in this role requires exceptional communication abilities meticulous attention to detail and a proactive solutionfocused mindset to overcome challenges and drive operational excellence aligned with industry best practices. In this role you will:
- Understands and is able to apply accounting principles and policies and stays up to date with changes
- Prepares and reviews account reconciliations in month end closing process
- Prepares complex journal entries for the monthly financial statement close
- Analyses revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis and report on variances
- Proactively seeks additional responsibilities as existing workload is optimized and automated away
- Supports documents monitors and executes internal control
- Assists with external audit requests
- Coordinates accounting matters with other departments
- Prepares reports such as balance sheets profit and loss statements and other documents that project the organizations financial position
- Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly financial statement close schedule
- Analyses accounting procedures processes and tasks recommending and executing improvements with the aim of reducing redundancy building efficiency and increasing productivity while ensuring compliance with company financial policies
- Assists with completion of quarterly and annual regulatory filings
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs MS Access SQL Oracle Financials Cloud and other cloudbased Oracle solutions
- Site Specific: Fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Experience with business process optimization in an accounting environment
- CPA CMA or relevant professional certification (active or inactive from any jurisdiction)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives while taking accountability for work product
- Ability to work within a team and liaise well across departments and functions
