Overview
The Harker School is a nonprofit TK12 coed private school in Silicon Valley that has earned international recognition for its top academics quality teachers and student achievements. Founded in 1893 and educating 1975 students Harker is the largest independent school of its kind in California. We have beautiful expansive San Jose campuses specifically designed for each of our four divisions transitional kindergarten lower middle and upper where our students enjoy outstanding facilities leadingedge technology and inspiring faculty to help them become the best they can be.
The Position
We are looking for a dynamic committed flexible and fun nurse to fill in for anywhere from a few hours to a few days to support our fulltime nurses when they need time off. This position is for a registered nurse who can work on any of our three main campuses K12 on an asneeded basis. The substitute nurse will fulfill the daily office duties of the school nurse and will evaluate treat and medicate sick or injured students and occasionally employees. This is a good position for a nurse seeking to expand their resume pick up some extra work around another parttime job or try out school nursing as a future fulltime career.
Estimated Hourly Rate: $45.00 $50.00
Qualifications
Personal and Professional Requirements
- Current clean and active license as a Registered Nurse in California
- A bachelors degree in nursing is preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Effective organizational skills with careful attention to accuracy and detail
- A passion for working with students and their families within a vibrant and diverse community
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Able to calmly triage and assess students in a fastpaced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Mature judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure
If the nurse works a full day there will be a onehour lunch break.
