Job Description
Authorize makes it simple to accept electronic and credit card payments in person online or over the phone. Weve been working with merchants and small businesses since 1996. As a leading payment gateway Authorize is trusted by more than 445000 merchants handling more than 1 billion transactions and 149 billion in payments every year.
As a Principal Engineer with Authorize (a Visa solution) you will be a handson technical leader working across multiple teams to modernize our systems and deliver innovative online payment solutions. You will be instrumental in containerizing applications splitting monolithic codebases into microservices and migrating onpremises workloads to the cloud. In addition you will enable process improvements through robust DevOps practices incorporating comprehensive release management strategies and optimized CI/CD pipelines.
Beyond modernization you will also guide the development of major new features by translating complex business problems into technical solutions that resonate with our merchants and partners. You will also drive crossteam projects that standardize our approach to API development and data schemas ensuring consistent implementation of best practices across the organization.
Collaborating with product managers tech leads and engineering teams you will define technology roadmaps communicate architectural decisions and mentor engineers in advanced technical approaches. This position requires a solid track record of delivering largescale reliable and secure software solutions. While we prefer C# expertise knowledge of other modern programming languages is also welcome.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 23 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50 or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 10
- years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA
- /JD/MD) or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelors Degree or 12 years of
- experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD or MD) PhD with
- 9 years of experience
- Deep C# experience preferred
- Familiarity with continuous delivery and DevOps practices including
- infrastructure automation monitoring logging auditing and security
- Handson knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure or GCP) for scalable
- deployment strategies
- Understanding of integration patterns API design and schema standardization
- for enterprise systems
- Prior exposure to NoSQL data stores (e.g. HBase Cassandra) is beneficial
- Experience with merchant data or payment technology is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to mentor and guide
- engineering teams at scale
Additional Information :
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 510 of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 184100.00 to 267050.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on jobrelated factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
