Description

The Editorial Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production of highquality educational materials ensuring that all deliverables are formatted accurately visually appealing and accessible. This role involves managing members of defined Production team collaborating crossfunctionally with other departments and ensuring that all materials adhere to company vision and meet both print and digital publication deadlines. Additionally the Editorial Production Manager will focus on workflow optimization iterating on best practices and quality assurance.

As an Editorial Production Manager at Big Ideas Learning You Will:

  • Collaborate with Creative department on varying unified designs to ensure that the designs can successfully be implemented within design/production operations.
  • Facilitate the and approval process of design templates with other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Project and Product Management on levelofeffort analysis and project schedules for all print and digital deliverables.
  • Proactively communicate project risks and mitigate as needed with other stakeholders.
  • Document various specs processes and best practices for internal and external resources.
  • Manage members of internal design/production team by facilitating daytoday operations and providing mentorship and ensuring professional growth and development.
  • Coordinate with IT department to ensure internal resources have the necessary software and hardware to perform daytoday tasks at an elevated level.
  • In conjunction with Project Management qualify and maintain vendor relations by conducting RFQs for prospective projects and responding to any queries and blockers for projects in progress.
  • Focus on Quality Assurance throughout defined workflows and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are formatted and produced to meet accessibility standards to guarantee that content is usable by all learners including those with disabilities.
  • Manage the finalization upload and proofing of files being submitted for print manufacture.
  • Conduct project retrospectives in a crosscollaborative manner to identify areas of process optimization and quality improvement.
  • Dedicate time to research and implement tools/software that enhance design efficiency and collaboration.
  • Establish KPIs and report on them throughout project lifecycles.

A Qualified Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelors degree in graphic design publishing or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in desktop publishing or production management.
  • Strong understanding of desktop publishing software including Adobe InDesign Illustrator Photoshop and Acrobat.
  • Experience in managing design operations and implementing efficient workflows.
  • High level of familiarity with prepress production processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency with using Resource Management tools such as Smartsheet.
