Job Description
Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Catholic classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting and provide supervision and age appropriate Catholic programming for groups of students.
This is a temporary position working 7 hours per day Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm.
Required Qualifications :
- A twoyear Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration and good standing with The College of Early Childhood Educators (photocopy of registration certificate required)
- Minimum of six months childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (photocopy of certificates required)
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning program and related legislation; knowledge of SMCDSB related polices and procedures.
- Proven ability experience and skill in working as a member of a team.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a sensitive courteous manner with children parents staff and the general public
- Understanding of commitment to confidentiality.
- Proven ability to deal with classroom management stressful and emergency situations.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully designing planning and implementing age appropriate Catholic programs.
- Basic computer skills strong organization and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program and must be able to physically assist children as required and repetitive bending.

- Proof of registration in the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Incomplete packages will not be considered. A Pastoral Letter of Reference from a Catholic priest must be included for an application package to be considered complete.
