Job Description

Seton Hall University School of Law welcomes applications for a Lecturer in Law to begin in July 2025. The Lecturer in Law will be responsible for teaching foundational law courses to undergraduate law majors at Seton Hall Universitys College of Arts and Sciences and School of Diplomacy and International Relations as well as for providing administrative support to the undergraduate law program including student advising. He or she may also teach additional courses at Seton Hall Law School and/or the School of Diplomacy and International Relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The undergraduate law major at Seton Hall University seeks to provide students the opportunity to learn fundamental legal concepts as part of a broader liberal arts education while also developing practical legal knowledge relevant to a variety of career pathways. The curriculum will include five foundational law courses: Introduction to Legal Research I and II The U.S. Constitution The Common Law and Legislation and Regulation. The Lecturer in Law will be responsible for developing syllabi for these courses and for teaching one or more sections each year. The method of instruction for these courses will be similar to that used in other undergraduate courses including multiple formative assessments throughout the semester.

The Lecturer in Law will teach primarily on Seton Hall Universitys campus in South Orange New Jersey. As a member of the Law School faculty the Lecturer in Law will be encouraged to participate in faculty colloquia and other academic activities at Seton Hall Law School which is located in downtown Newark New Jersey.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree a record of academic excellence the ability to be an outstanding teacher and mentor and a commitment to building an equitable and diverse academic community.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior experience teaching undergraduate students is desirable but not essential.
