You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailIowa State Universitys Student Counseling Services (SCS) is seeking a skilled Psychologist to provide essential mental health services to students. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the personal and academic success of students through a variety of counseling crisis intervention and educational programs.
Requirements:
Clinical Service & Outreach 55
Provide individual group and workshop services to students in a brief treatment model. Serve as member of disposition team and provide weekly team day coverage including intake and crisis support. Conduct intake interviews and determine appropriate client disposition for services. Assesses client needs and make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources. Conduct psychological and eating disorder assessments when appropriate. Maintain appropriate documentation regarding client treatment services including assessment and progress notes that are completed in accordance with agency state and professional policy. Appropriately manage client caseload within SCS center policy. Engage in consultation as needed to support provision of services. Provide outreach presentations and workshops to support the mission of a university counseling center. Serve on internal and external committees as appointed.
General Administration & Meetings 25
Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. Attend and participate in biweekly case conference meetings. Attend and participate in meeting with administrative supervisor on a scheduled basis. Participate in professional development opportunities to support uptodate professional knowledge and best practice. Serve as coordinator for a designated area as determined and assigned by the Director. Maintain appropriate documentation regarding client treatment services including assessment and progress notes that are completed in accordance with agency state and professional policy. Appropriately manage client caseload within SCS center policy. Engage in consultation as needed to support provision of services.
Supervision and Training 10
Provide clinical supervision to trainees or staff not licensed for independent practice to support training functions of the center. Evaluate supervisees training needs and provide feedback regarding development of professional and clinical skills. Provide seminars for the training program in areas of expertise. Support training program through providing seminars consultation special emphasis area supervision and other areas as needed. Attend and participate in biweekly supervisors meetings when supervising.
Safety & Risk Management 5
Provide crisis intervention services as needed to support safety and wellbeing of students. Assess and provide support related to safety and risk concerns during clinical interactions. Provide consultation to concerned students faculty staff and parents regarding student mental health concerns. Abide by local state and federal laws that relate to your role at SCS. Adhere to ethical standards as outlined by your respective licensing organization. Make appropriate referrals to other clinicians as necessary and write reports notes and other records within the legal and ethical standards of Iowa law HIPAA and the APA code of ethics. Maintain state licensure to provide clinical services. Work closely with unit division and university communication partners to ensure all marketing and communications align with university policy and messaging.
