GeneralSummary:The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides peer support services to adult members under the supervision of the Program Director.The PSS will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a member advocate providing information and peer support for members in outpatient settings.The PSS performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process recovery resources such as books tapes pamphlets and other written materials will be utilized by PSS in the provision of services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reportstoassignedlocationasscheduled;followsagencyattendancepolicies;submitsaccuraterecordofhoursworkedonaweeklybasis.
  • Utilizes a strengthsbased approach along with personal experiences while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with members.
  • Provides members an example of what they can strive for in their recovery and instills the belief that recovery is real and possible.
  • Must be able to understand and implement individualtreatmentplangoalsby providing behavioralhealth covered peer supportservicesto members
  • Works with various community organizations and resources to provide additional support for members particularly as they transition from recovery back into the general community. This can include continued healthcare housing job assistance and additional treatment services as well as support in the task of finding or reintegrating with friends family and outside communities.
  • Conductsindividualand groupservices.
  • Adherestoalllicensing requirementsforthesite/program/agency.
  • Transportsmemberstolocationsin thecommunity as needed for service deliveryusingamotorvehicle.
  • Maintainsrequiredvehicledocumentation; maintainscleanlinessand maintenanceprotocolsforagency vehicles.
  • Closely observesmemberstoensuretheirsafetyandappropriateparticipationinprogramactivities.
  • Completesprogressnotesincidentreportsandotherdatasheetswithin therequired timeframe.
  • Workswith membersofthetreatmentteamandotherprogramsensuringserviceprovision tomembers.
  • Participatesin supervisionasrequired.
  • Participatesinclinicalroundsorcaremanagementprocessasrequired.
  • Adherestoagencypolicy on theprovisionofservicesand administrativerole.
  • AttendsCFTsandARTswhenrequired;attendsregularlyscheduledTeamMeetingsandothermeetingsasrequired.
  • Followsagencypurchasingand accounting procedures.
  • Completesalltrainingrequiredbylicensingand/oragencyorasrequestedbysupervisor.
  • Renders emergency aid safeguards members rights including reporting of abuse when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education HS/GED required.
  • Experience Past personal experience within the behavioral health system or child welfare system required.
  • Certification Peer Support Certification from Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) or another approved provider.

Regulatory:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • CPR First Aid & AED certification if required (must possess upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License 39month Motor Vehicle Report proof of vehicle registration and liability insurance that meet company insurance requirements if required.
  • Negative TB test result if required (Employer provides).
