JOB SUMMARY
The Electric Locator is responsible for accurately identifying and marking the location of underground electric utility lines cables and other buried infrastructure. Using specialized detection equipment the Electric Locator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of excavation and construction projects by preventing damage to vital electric systems.
ELECTRIC LOCATOR Apprentice
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under close supervision must be able to perform locates of underground electric and fiber facilities with the use of utility maps computer applications various specialized locate equipment probe rods and/or shovel excavation. Must be able to report any discrepancies with verbal and written communications including drawing representations. Assist in working closely with contractors to ensure safe excavation processes are being followed including investigation and reporting of excavation damages.
EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Under directive supervision with latitude for planning and laying out of working details with responsibility for timely and accurate results. Must be able to perform precise locates of underground electric and fiber facilities with the use of utility maps computer applications various specialized locate equipment probe rods and/or shovel excavation. Must be able to accurately report any discrepancies with detailed verbal and written communications including precise drawing representations. Works closely with contractors to ensure safe excavation processes are being followed including investigation and reporting of excavation damages.

Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
