JOB SUMMARY

A Porters basic function usually involves maintaining cleanliness appearance and safety standards of facility.

Pay: $20.20 an hour approx. $42000 annually.

FLSA: Nonexempt. Eligible for overtime.

Schedule: 10AM6PM Thursday Monday (Tuesday & Wednesday off).

Location: Rego Park Queens NY

JOBRELATED DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.

Perform basic maintenance tasks each workday including:

  • Trash removal
  • Front lobby and facility support
  • Sweeping cleaning and mopping rooms and areas as needed.
  • Follow all maintenance tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Determine workplace hazards and exposures that could harm employees and by extension the environment and report it immediately.
  • Ensure staff are practicing safe working techniques learned in trainings.
  • Maintains Compliance with CHIs Health and Safety Program.
  • Promote Safety initiatives and inspect all equipment prior to use.
  • Emergency Preparedness attend yearly training on active shooter drills deescalation training and ensure that all emergency supplies on site are present and accounted for.

Qualifications

ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Some experience 1 years) cleaning and sanitizing a residential or similar site preferred.

Certificates: Required to obtain an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Online Training for Bloodborne Pathogens and Personal Protective Equipment Course within the first 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.

  • Required to obtain a Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard in Homeless shelters (F02 within the first 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.
  • Required to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate from a credentialed company through the Department of Health.
  • Communication: Proficiency in English required. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Reasoning Ability: make judgment calls perform proper notifications and make appropriate decisions.
  • Physical: Ability to lift carry and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs) tour entire property walk distances and climb stairs 24 flights).
