What will you do as a Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the of highrisk complex investment projects in sustainability new energy and gas storage. Reporting to the Director of Growth Projects this role ensures compliance with Vopaks project management standards delivering projects on time within budget and in line with safety and quality expectations. The Senior Project Manager also provides mentorship to Project Managers and aligns project with business growth objectives.

What do we expect from you as a Senior Project Manager
Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act.
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil Mechanical or Chemical); MBA or advanced degree preferred
15 years in years in projects engineering and management experience with Owner capital projects.
Strong understanding of stagegated processes cost estimation and risk management
Strong financial acumen with experience in capital budgeting and investment decisionmaking.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of project management and contract management to ensure contractors perform per Vopak Quality and Safety standards
Proficiency in datadriven decisionmaking
Knowledgeable in risk management and capable of using the outcome of project risk assessment to improve project until the end of the project
Experience managing capital projects where complex interface management are required
Experience of engineering procurement contracting and construction of Storage Tank & Marine Terminals including rail loading/offloading facilities
Experience & knowledge in:
Contract management
Stakeholders management
Interface management
Proficient in English language (spoken read & write)
What does your day look like
Your core responsibilities are:
Project Leadership &
Oversee large complex and highrisk projects from initiation to completion.
Ensure projects comply with Vopak Project Management (VPM) standards including gate review processes risk mitigation and adherence to industry regulations.
Provide strategic guidance to project teams ensuring best practices in engineering and governance.
Facilitate alignment among stakeholders to ensure that strategic priorities are met
Support and provide advice during development of the conceptual design functional requirements and Basis of Design (BoD) in close coordination with Project Team
Compliance & Risk Management
Implement Vopaks Health Safety and Environmental Quality (SHEQ) standards across all projects.
Identify potential risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure full compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
Ensure full compliance to Vopak minimum technical local regulations and operational standards
Stakeholder Management
Engage with senior leadership business development commercial managers project managers and external partners to ensure project alignment with business objectives.
Represent projects in steering committees and governance reviews.
Act as a key advisor to Project Owners on project strategy development and .
Resource & Team Management
Lead project teams fostering a culture of excellence in project .
Guide and mentor Project Managers to enhance capabilities and project delivery efficiency.
Coordinate with internal engineering supply chain and technical teams to ensure effective project .
Manage thirdparties including but not limited to outside consultants contractors and technical resources.
Financial & Performance Management
Monitor key performance indicators to measure project health progress and value realization.
Ensure project financials align with budgets and business case justifications.
Monitor and report project performance metrics ensuring transparency in and governance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in project management adopting innovative methodologies where applicable.
Apply effective project controls in capital projects including estimating scheduling cost engineering forecasting management of change and reporting.
Work Environment
This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 104F 40C) and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 15F 10C) in the winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds including fumes and smells some of them hazardous. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employees must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk sit speak and hear. The employee is required to stand use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required on occasion to climb or balance stoop kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50 in height. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to travel by air rail bus or car.
